The Governor Bears Gifts

Christmas in June. It must be an election year…

Governor visits Town Hall tomorrow
He’s not the Duke of Atholl, but town officials are almost as excited to hear that Gov. Deval L. Patrick will be in town tomorrow.

Becky Deusser, a spokeswoman for Mr. Patrick, said the governor will be in Athol tomorrow, at 4:30 p.m. in Athol Town Hall, to make an economic development announcement. She said that prior to visiting Athol, the governor will be in Fitchburg to make a similar announcement.

Timing is everything.

UPDATE:

It appears Governor Patrick will not be able to make the trip…

Gov. Deval Patrick forced to take sick day, cancels all events
BOSTON - Gov. Deval Patrick has been forced to cancel all his appearances after being hit with the flu.

The governor’s office says it will try to send people in Patrick’s place for a busy day of stops around the state Wednesday. This is the first sick day the Democrat has taken since being sworn into office in January 2007.

In the afternoon, he was scheduled to attend the New England Women in Real Estate annual meeting in Boston, before heading to central Massachusetts for economic development announcements in Fitchburg and Athol.

We all hope the governor a speedy recovery from the flu. Hopefully, he’s not sick from the prospect of the Athol-Boston commute. Welcome to our world.
