State Representative candidate Bob Parks is challenging Christopher Donelan to “town hall” style debates over the summer. The series would include one forum in mutually agreed upon towns in the Second Franklin district. The events would take place during July and August at a time and place to be announced.
Of the challenge, Parks said,
As this is the Year of Change, I think it very important that voters know what their options are. There are very important issues at hand and how the next State Representative addresses them are important. It would also be helpful to have the next representative on-record as to his promises-vice-results so voters can also make informed decisions two years from now.
This is an attempt to have all of the citizens of our district engaged, and not just the loyal activists within each camp. The issues here are just too important to have a minority dictate the direction for the majority.
Democrat Rep. James Fagan, a Taunton criminal defense attorney, recently argued on the House floor against Jessica’s Law, a measure that would set mandatory minimum sentences for child rapists.
Sometimes I wonder why I want to work with these people…
This is what happens when (as a society) we tolerate teen pregnancy. High school day care centers, contraception-on-demand (not in this case) without parental consent, abortion without parental knowledge, not to mention a floundering local job market that offers bleak opportunities for its young people.
So they have nothing better to do with that low self-esteem, but to get knocked up. Yeah, that’s a good solution…
There’s a stunning twist to the sudden rise in teen pregnancies at Gloucester High School. Seventeen students there are expecting and many of them became that way on purpose.
Time Magazine first reported that nearly half of the girls confessed to making a pact to get pregnant and raise their babies together. None of them is older than 16.
Isn’t this called statutory rape? And I’m sorry, but these irresponsible girls won’t “raise their babies together”. Their parents will end up doing much of the work, financially supporting them along with us taxpayers.
I know it’s Monday morning, but I’m finding it hard to get my bearings today.
We, here in Massachusetts, were assured by electing Mr. Together-We-Can Deval Patrick governor, we be enjoying a new day. However, our days are a nightmare.
Deval Patrick was the one who came into office claiming our state was in a bad financial situation. Yet, the independently wealthy Deval didn’t forgo his salary like Mitt Romney and Kerry Healey did when they took office. Instead, he upgraded his car, started accumulating frequent flier miles on a state police helicopter, got his wife an unnecessary chief of staff, and decided to redecorate his office with expensive furnishings at our expense.
Deval Patrick has proven himself to be a liberal’s liberal and a Democrat’s Democrat. He sees our tax dollars as play money that can be thrown at anything to help him live a life of luxury.
With the news of Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick’s $1 billion initiative to “woo” biotech businesses to The Bay State, not all are blindly cheering.
State Representative candidate Bob Parks (R) of the 2nd Franklin District is suspicious of the governor’s motives.
“Two years ago, I suggested our district apply directly to HUD and receive Empowerment Zone status. This would enable existing businesses here to grow and hire more people, while luring others. The difference between my plan and Governor Patrick’s is that it doesn’t require taxpayers to foot the bill, and my plan isn’t discriminatory, giving preference to one business sector over another.”
While watching Representative Donelan (on a local cable access program) explain why firefighters need be alcohol and drug tested, I’m thinking “is this a case of the foxes watching the hen house”?
Boston (WBZ Newsroom) — A bill calling for random drug and alcohol testing for all public safety employes in Massachusetts is meeting opposition. State representative Christopher Donelan of Orange says the public deserves to feel confident in the work these employes do. Donelan has filed a bill months after autopsies reportedly found traces of alcohol or cocaine in the systems of two Boston firefighters, who perished in a West Roxbury blaze.
Now while what happened to the deceased firefighters was tragic, that’s no reason to pile on and indict all because of a sensational news story. I trust firefighters more than that.
At the same time, with all the recent arrests, threats, and shenanigans by Beacon Hill lawmakers (as well as the questionable judgment illustrated by legislation passed), maybe Boston Democrats should be the ones tested for drugs and alcohol…?
